If you know how to do tempuras, do tempuras. I can’t, so the stupid fried shrimp will have to suffice.

Ingredients

10 small pieces of peeled shrimp

1/3 teaspoon of salt

1/3 teaspoon of grounded pepper

7 tbsp. of Gogi flour

5 tbsp. of wheat flour

5 tbsp. of cold water

some oil

Instructions

Mix the Gogi flour with the cold water, salt, and pepper

Pour the oil into the pan, set to medium heat, and wait until it overheats

Put the shrimp into the corander and shake a bit to get rid of excess water (if any)

Mix the shrimp with the wheat flour, then mix it with the Gogi, then dunk it into the pan

Fry until the shrimp is yellow and puffy

Extremely inauthentic, but doable by an idiot like me. Fried shrimp goes well with it.

Ingredients

1/3 pack of 200g soba noodles

4 tbsp of 3-bai Mentsuyu

some cheap dried seaweed from a 7-Eleven nearby

a bowl of very cold tap water (to wash the cooked noodles)

a cup of very cold filtered water (to mix with the Mentsuyu)

Instructions

Put the soba noodles in boiled (but not rolling) water for 4.5 - 5 mins.

Quickly put the cooked soba noodle into a colander. Shake to get rid of water as much as you can.

Dunk the noodle into the bowl of cold water to stop the cooking

Put the cooled noodle into a colander again. Shake to get rid of water as much as you can.

Put the noodle onto the dish. Add the dried seaweed on top (rip the seaweed to pieces if it’s the big sheet kind)

Mix the Mentsuyu and the cup of very cold filtered water. Adjust to taste.

Pour the mix from 3. into the pan

Wait a bit until the egg beneath turns gold and flip the egg

Note that it is easier to flip the egg if you separate the egg into 4 part (press your turner onto the egg and make a big + sign) then flip them individually. Do not wait for the upper side of the egg turns gold. By that time, the underside will already be burned.

Warimom's Tuna and Cabbage

Warimom's Tuna and Cabbage

This is the recipe for my mom’s original, and my favorite, stir-fry “Tuna and Cabbage” in Thai chilli paste. She was the gateway to my VTuber experience and how I discovered Hanayori Girls’ Dorm, my most favorite Virtual Group, even if disbanded. I understand her need for a redebut, to start things over, and I accept her decision as always. I don’t have a say because it’s none of my business, and the only decision I have to make is to continue supporting her in other forms or not.

But even so, knowing that those archives would be removed forever – I still hate this kind of memory wipe. Knowing Kano, it’s possible that she does this so we won’t get stuck in the past forever.

In that case, to be frank, whether I move on or not is also none of her business. But I digress.

In an event that seems like an epilogue for the full year I’ve spent with Hanayori Girls’ Dorm, I had a lot of thoughts coming to my mind. They were mostly a bittersweet thought lamenting the past just like the last September.

Strangely enough, I feel courageous. I have no regrets spending time with the soon-to-be previous Kano. I know I’ll move on soon enough. I know I can take what is about to happen as it comes, and run past it quickly.

I’ve heard a familiar voice urging me to do my best together from now on. I’m not alone.

「みんな一緒に頑張ろね」

そう言われると、何でもできるような気がする。

Even if I have to lose yet another treasure, I’ll keep moving forward without getting discouraged, dragging these memories along.

Let’s do our best together.

Wari's Fangirling Day

Wari's Fangirling Day
